Ri Ri has a new video for her first single, “Only Girl (In the World)” from her upcoming album “Loud.” When I first saw her flaming red hair on the MTV 2010 VMAs it took some getting used to. Well, that and I had to adjust the color on my television a bit. After watching this new video it hit me that this hair color is here to stay. It is appropriately loud like the title of her new album.
If she is anything like me and most other women in the world this hair color change is an outward expression of the place she is currently in her life. She is out of the dark place she once was during album, “Rated R.” Now she is maybe feeling more grown up, a little happier and ready to show it to all. When I think about the red hair in that respect it makes me not mind all the color adjusting my eyes have to make.
The entire video has this red hue to it which I like. She twirls around in cute-sy tutus and rolls around in beautiful multi-colored flowers. She is in fact the only girl and person in the video. This video I would like to think is preparing Ri Ri fans for the next phase in her life that is no longer as explicit but still grown up. It is just a little louder.
